BFCN Core Values
We value the Bible as the Word of God — the authority for what we believe and how we live each day. To that end we are committed to expository preaching, teaching, and personal study of God’s Word with a view toward life change.
We value the gospel of grace and its power to transform people and are committed to the “Great Commission,” putting our faith into action through missions in our community and around the world.
We value prayer as essential to our personal and corporate spiritual vitality, for cultivating an eternal perspective, and as the foundation for a fruitful ministry.
We value meaningful worship, both individual and corporate, as the normal experience of a growing believer. Through worship, we seek to enter into God’s presence to glorify Him and express our heartfelt gratitude for His blessings, mercy, and compassion.
We value the spiritual gifts of every believer to be identified and put to use for the building up of the Body of Christ.
We value authenticity in our relationship with each other and with God, cultivating a spirit of encouragement, accountability, and spiritual intimacy.
We value grace and forgiveness—not to minimize sin—but to maximize God’s ministry of restoration and healing in a broken world.
We value genuine spirituality—intimacy with God—as more important than mere outward conformity.
We value plurality of leadership expressed through eldership oversight that is Biblical and wholly dependent on and obedient to God’s leading and that demonstrates humility, integrity, sensitivity, and transparency before the congregation.
We value compassion expressed within and outside of the church, practicing mutual ministry among each other and creating a place of refuge for the lost and spiritually wounded.*
We value the whole family, including singles, and, ministering to all ages, seeking to build up family relationships while offering hope and grace to those whose families have been fractured.
We value wise stewardship, being generous with our time, talents, and resources—as well as our facilities—as a reflection of God’s ownership of all things.
We value growth–as individuals and as a church—that our influence for the sake of Christ may continue to expand in its impact for God’s glory.
We value excellence as defined by giving to the Lord our best in all things, great and small.
We value unity within the body and diversity in its membership, creating a welcoming church for those of all racial, ethnic, generational and social backgrounds.
We value our connectional relationship with other BFC’s and Bible believing churches and seek ways to demonstrate our mutual partnership in kingdom building.
