Sermon Notes –

1 Peter 5: 6-11 – 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11 To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

  • Struggling in our faith does not necessarily reveal that something is wrong but that the battle is not yet over.
    • Philippians 4:6-7 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
    • 2 Corinthians 11
    • Romans 8: 31 – What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?…
    • Struggling is not abnormal; it just means that the battle is not over yet.  Struggling can cause discord in the soul.  It is not about how much you know or how strong you are or how many degrees you have, it is about that you are in a battle or a warzone.  The Lord is walking with you, and he will come through.  The timing is never the timeline that you want it to be.  The timing is always the perfect timeline for what you are going through.
    • John 16:33 – I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
    • Lord, Don’t take them out of the world, help them in it.
    • If you are struggling, there is hope.  If you are struggling, you are still alive and not yet home.
    • Be strong and go to the one who has the strength
    • Be vigilant; keep watch.
  • Am I being vigilant? Am I loving one another and to receive the love from somebody else?
    • When I am feeling confident, I can remind a brother.
    • Galatians 6:2 – Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
    • Recognize it and keep walking with him.
