The Wise and Foolish Builders
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
Sermon Notes: Firm foundation
- There are two foundations that life can be built upon: one is secure and the other will fail.
Luke 6:49 – But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete - Everyone will experience storms and floods in life.
- If our foundation in this life is Jesus, there is nothing in this world that can destroy you.
- Hearing and agreeing with Christ is different than trusting and following.
- Trust in the complete provision of your Heavenly Father
